That's quite interesting... of course, it needs to be combined with an effort in providing another sustainable cooking method (or else the trees will probably not survive) but that really could make a big difference.
I think, with environmental issues, one thing we easily lose sight of is that we are not helping the environment just to make it look better... it's a far deeper problem. I think that more "green" movements need to be like this... with less of an emphasis on "raw" environmental help and more on strategic plans to aid life through it.
